1973

My mind was, to put it simply, confused and worried. The rest of me was in pretty bad shape too. After Fairview closed we lost just about everybody until it was me, Bob, Heather, Louise, Ralph, Pat and Danny. We all headed down to Ralph's place, met Rob Fenoulhet on the way (he'd been up to Fairview too). He drove Ralph home to phone Alan bout going over to his place. He wasn't home. On the way, Bob took me, Heather and Louise to see if he could get in the men's sauna room in Somervale Gdns. He had a key but the lock was jammed. Shit!

Over at Ralph's nothing happened-'cept me and Heather got a little chummy. Hmmm.....
Bob and I left and walked over to the Cartier for a drink, a game of Rally, and a look at the stripper........
Then we went to Bob's, caught some T.V. and I split home.

Fragments
Meeting Rob and Tim at Steinberg's at Fairview (they worked there) more than once.

One night coming out from a party at Andy, I had a flat.

Going to a party across the street from Andy's. South West One people.

Mike Oldfield
Tubular Bells

Smoked John Player's Special at this time (which came in a black plastic cylinder).

Though I'd been hearing it since May, 'Tubular Bells' became a hit now.

One Sunday Rob, Andy and I watched a movie 'Phantom Planet' (on Shock Theatre?) with the famous attack of the Solarites (this became legend).

Rob and I owed Pete $5 for hash from this time (I'm sure we never paid him).

Running out of gas on St John's going to school. Rob helped push me down the hill into the

PC shops parking lot. The cops were there too.

I filmed at school on November 21 and either the 22nd or 23rd. (the ride into school was filmed my Mike, from the front window of the car).

Rob, Tim Herron, Ralph Bird and I began to meet every morning in the car before classes. We'd smoke heavily, and get oh so very stoned. Many new hashes were available at this time: Pakistani, Nepalese Fingers, Temple Balls...

The Birth of the Boge Monster
A new time begins with Chris Todd's invitation to come up north. Since that time I've wondered what would happened if I'd gone by myself. As it happened I went with Rob. Tim and Mark Simmons (no relation to Gillian. Andy declined to go). We went to the farm. A film survives (though it was filmed before meeting Chris). Chris did join us, but they thought him a geek (He was always saying "Decent"). They called me 'Champlain' because of my hair and long black coat. (my British grandmother called me 'Charles I').

Rob (on acid) had seen a movie called 'The Legend of Boggy Creek'. Thus began the story of the creature that lived on the mountain across the road from the farmhouse: The Boge Monster, the mountain became Boge Mountain.

We got pretty stoned on this trip. As we were leaving going down the first hill, I couldn't see the bottom in the dark, went off the road and got stuck in the sand. Paul pulled us out. We dropped Chris at his place and I never saw him again...

View movie here. Flash 6 plug-in required.

Letter written November 27, 1973 from Donna to Gillian

I got your letter weeks ago and am sorry I haven't written back before now. But I either haven't had the time or I've started to write and just haven't finished. I haven't been working as much as I used to I now have a forty hour week five days a week but when your on your feet all day long the first thing I think about is going to bed. I have to take December 9th Sunday off of work cause we are going to Emerson + Lake and Palmer but a really bad thing about it is I have to work Monday morning at seven o'clock. I'm going to see if there is any possible way that I might get it off cause I'll be bloody tired getting up at six
